Business Professionals Raise $1,170 to Grant Wishes
Sep 17, 2007
Tampa, FL – Roger West Creative and Code, an integrated marketing and technology company located in Tampa, FL, hosted the first ever Tampa Bay Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 15th, at the Eagle’s Golf Club in Odessa, Florida. The event was a part of a corporate philanthropic strategy that raised $1,170 for charity. All proceeds of the fundraising event were donated to the local chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation.
Tampa Bay Scramble is a golf tournament played by teams of four and is based on scramble scoring. At Saturday’s event, 14 teams consisting of 56 business professionals woke up early to raise money for children while enjoying a relaxing morning on the greens. “The event had a lot of energy. You could tell just by looking around the course that everyone was having a great time playing golf,” said Michael Westafer, CEO of Roger West Creative and Code. “More importantly, everyone knew they were doing something good for our community,” he continued.
Players at the event paid a fee for a round of golf, which included a luncheon and awards ceremony after the game. Additional funds were also raised by collecting donations and raffling off prizes, like golf equipment and apparel, gift cards, and more. “We also sold mulligans, which are free swings on the golf course,” stated Westafer.
